Current positions

Axis Electronics is one of the UK's leading hi-tech contract electronic manufacturing companies specialising in aerospace and defence products. We have rapidly established a reputation as a major player in producing the highest quality assembled printed circuit boards and are now seen as a leader in this field.

As a result of continued expansion, we are now looking to recruit staff to fill a number of new positions including:

Senior Electronic Component Buyer

You will be responsible for quoting, sourcing and buying semis, passive & emech products to meet demand. You must have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in either a sales or purchasing role within the electronic component industry with good knowledge of electronic distribution markets. An understanding of MIL spec components & ability to interpret customer drawings would be an advantage.

Material Controller/Production Scheduler

You will be liaising with suppliers to ensure our purchase orders arrive at Axis on time. You will attend daily update meetings with production giving them clear information on component supply issues. The work will also include ordering component shortages to meet production demands and maintaining the scheduling and material shortage reports and spreadsheets. Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines. Good MS Excel skills essential.

PCB Assembly Solderers/Reworkers

The above role will cover a wide range of responsibilities and tasks including:

  • Repairing pcb assemblies fitted with fine pitch SMT devices
  • Hand Soldering parts to pcb assemblies
  • Electro-mechanical Assembly
  • Modification of pcb assemblies to customer configuration
  • Some shift work may be required

  • SMT Process Engineer

You need to have the ability to respond to customer "I need it now" requirements and yet still plan strategically for the future growth of the business. We are looking for someone who can fine-tune our SMT processes and has a "hands on" approach with the capacity to make things work. We are investing heavily in capital equipment and in the light of our cellular manufacturing approach we need to make the SMT processes work harder for our customers, and for us. We believe this is an exciting role that gives an innovative and organised individual something to get their teeth into. What we require is that you:
    • Have a HND/HNC or a degree
    • Know SMT Processes as well as anybody out there, including the legislation of WEEE and RoHS. You will be responsible for a huge range of processes that will develop and grow with our business needs.
    • Most of all, have the ability to pass on your skills to other team members. We want you to leave a wake of trained operators in your path.

    • Maintenance Technician

Reporting to our senior equipment engineer you will assist in the maintaining and repairing of manufacturing production equipment (Quad, DEK, Mydata, Seho, BTU) in a high technology environment. We require someone with knowledge of electrics and mechanics with good problem solving skills and flexibility in working hours. This role requires a responsible approach to work, someone with initiative and a mature attitude. This is an excellent opportunity to increase your skills with the potential to progress fast. General knowledge of electrical wiring and plumbing would be an advantage.

In return for your skills and experience we offer a competitive salary, profit share, 24 days holiday, pension scheme, life assurance and travel allowance (subject to terms).
