Capabilities

Helping customers realise new product concepts or evolve existing products to keep pace with customer’s requirements and technology changes.

Axis offers assistance at all stages when implementing new products. Whether in the design stage by the customer or on existing products being transferred into Axis that have previously been built elsewhere by an Axis competitor or in-house by the customer. Operating at a minimum of 5 days a week, we can extend to a 7 day operating schedule quickly with existing full time Axis staff, and also extend shift coverage to 24 hours when needed.

Our productivity is amongst the highest in the EMS sector due to our ability to manage manufacturing throughput using principles of Lean and ToC, we have highly configurable and agile manufacturing cells dedicated to specific programs that can accelerate to full throughout very quickly in response to customers needs.

Our IFS ERP system gives us the foundation upon which to make educated decisions to schedule production and minimise wait time between processes, this is supported by our use of Silicon Experts and FactoryLogix.

Many of our production operators are Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt trained which gives us strength in depth when addressing Continuous Improvement activities as we strive toward 100% Quality, On Time, every time.

Axis also operates as a European hub for customers who require all re-work to be co-ordinated and completed in one central location.

To truly get an appreciation of the Axis manufacturing capabilities, we recommend you contact us to arrange a site visit; meanwhile here is a summary of our extensive capabilities all of which are managed from our secure UK facility:

New Product Introduction (NPI)

This includes new products in design by the customer and existing products transferred into Axis that have previously been built elsewhere by an Axis competitor or in-house by the customer. Axis has its own 8 stage NPI process it used to manage all new projects and this gives customers the confidence the project is in safe hands.

Supply Chain and Materials Management

Axis has over 25 years in managing inbound supply chains, inspecting and storing material and then kitting material to ensure we are ‘ready for manufacture’ on time, every time.

Design for Manufacture (DFM)

our experienced Axis manufacturing engineers offer guidance to customers on board layout and design to improve manufacturing yield and reduce waste. This completed at NPI state but also throughout the life of programme in line with our Continuous Improvement (CI) philosophy.

Design for Test (DFT)

our specialist Test development team work closely with customers to develop comprehensive production test solutions.

Surface Mount Assembly

Axis is at the forefront of SMT technology having successfully manufactured with 01005 components, plus BGA technology at 0.25mm and 30um accuracy. Operating at a minimum of 5 days a week we can extend to 7 day operating quickly with existing full time Axis staff and also extend shift coverage to 24 hours when needed.
